How are things going for you spiritually?

Would you read that question again, slowly!  How are things going for you spiritually?  As you look back over the last year or so, which of these would you mark:

1)  I am closer to the Lord

2)  I am further away from the Lord

3)  I am stagnant

4)  I'm all over the page:  (up / down,  hot / cold,  in / out)

5)  All I do is go to church occasionally and that is about it

6)  I have no idea, it has never crossed my mind

One of the main problems people have with Christianity is that they are not aware of the most important ingredient--a relationship with Jesus Christ.

It is...

-- not simply a list of "does & don'ts"

-- not just trying to "live a good life"

-- not simply "showing up" at church and getting a thought or two out of a sermon

All of that is fine and good--but it is not at the heart of Christianity.  Christianity is a relationship.  A relationship with Jesus Christ.  Stop and think about the relationships you have in your life.  Your relationship with your spouse, children, siblings, parents, grandparents, friends, schoolmates.  The key to a deeper relationship is communication, right?  We certainly don't have much of a relationship with any of these people if there is not some time spent talking, listening, and simply being with that person.  Why do we think our relationship with the Lord is any different?

We have about (8) men who attend our Men's Life Group twice a month.  It is a great group of guys and we have a good time together talking about our lives, struggles, and our spiritual walk with the Lord.  Right now, each of us are sharing with the other men the answer to the question, "This is where I am spiritually?"  It has been good, but difficult for us to share honestly where we are in our walk with the Lord.

It comes down to this:  if I am not where I want to be spiritually, am I willing to do something about it?  What changes have to be made in order to deeper my relationship with the Lord.  It is so easy for us to just "drift" in our relationship with Christ.  As one person said recently to me,  "nothing good ever comes out of drifting..."

In your busy, hectic, schedule.  Find time for a deeper relationship with Christ.  He wants that even more than you do!
